Mom's Cookbook terms of use
Last updated: October 26, 2026.
These terms are an agreement between you and David Plante, who is self-employed in Québec (Québec enterprise number 2281862567) and makes Mom's Cookbook under the name Calyro. "We" and "us" mean David Plante, working as Calyro. These terms apply when you use Mom's Cookbook. Our privacy policy explains what we do with your data. If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use the app.
1. Your account
- You need an account to use Mom's Cookbook. You can continue with Google, with Apple on an iPhone or iPad, or with an email address and a password.
- You must be 18 or older.
- An account is for one person. Keep your sign-in to yourself. You're responsible for what happens in your account, so tell us right away if you think someone else got in.
- Use an email address you actually read. It's how your family finds you when they share a cookbook.
2. Your recipes stay yours
Everything you add stays yours: your recipes, notes, photos, cookbooks, plans and lists. We don't own any of it.
To run the app, you let us store it, copy it into our backups, show it to you, show it to the people you share it with, and send it to the companies that run the features you use, like OpenAI when you import a recipe or ask Maman a question.
We use it only to run Mom's Cookbook for you. We don't sell it, publish it or use it in ads.
This permission lasts until you delete your account. When you delete a recipe, cookbook, plan or list, it disappears from the app, but we keep it until you delete your account. A grocery line made from a deleted recipe still shows its name.
After you delete your account, the permission still covers our backups until they're deleted: we ask for their deletion within 8 weeks, and the company that stores them then finishes it. Copies of your recipes that family members saved for themselves stay theirs, photos included (section 3).
You promise that you have the right to add what you add. Your family's recipes are yours to keep and share. Recipes and photos from cookbooks, websites and social media belong to the people who made them. Import them for your own cooking, and don't share them more widely than their owners allow.
3. Sharing
- You choose who sees a cookbook by adding their email address. They can read its recipes and cook from them. Only you can change what's inside.
- They see your name and email address with the cookbook.
- They can save their own copy of a recipe. Their copy is theirs, photos included, and it stays if you stop sharing, delete the recipe or delete your account.
- You can stop sharing at any time. The cookbook then disappears for them. If we ever have to restore our database from a backup, everything changed after the backup's moment is undone, up to about 7 weeks before the problem; account deletions are always applied again.
- We don't send invitations, so let them know yourself.
- Share only with people you know, and only what you have the right to share.
4. Importing recipes
When you import, you ask us to open the link or read the file and turn it into a draft recipe. An AI made by OpenAI may read it for us, as the privacy policy explains.
Check every draft before you save it. Amounts, times and temperatures can be misread.
5. Maman and AI answers
Maman and the import reader use an AI made by OpenAI. AI can be wrong, can misread, and can sound sure when it isn't.
Maman's answers are kitchen help, not professional advice:
- Food safety. Cook meat, poultry, fish and eggs to a safe temperature, and follow the food safety advice where you live. When in doubt, throw it out.
- Allergies. Maman can suggest swaps, but she can't promise a dish is safe for someone with an allergy. Always read the labels, and keep crumbs and splashes away.
- Health and nutrition. Maman doesn't give medical or nutrition advice. For a health condition, a special diet, a pregnancy or a baby's food, ask a doctor or a dietitian.
- Emergencies. Call 911 or your local emergency number.
You decide what to cook and what to save. Nothing Maman writes reaches your recipes until you check it and save it. She never changes your original recipe. Her versions become new recipes.
Use Maman for cooking and food, and don't try to make her break these rules.
Free and Plus include a set number of AI readings a month, and AI Pro includes up to 300 a month. Plans with Maman come with a set number of her questions a month. After very heavy use, she may also rest until the 1st of the next month.
6. Plans and subscriptions
- Mom's Cookbook has a free plan and two paid plans, Plus and AI Pro. The app shows what each one includes.
- Paid plans are subscriptions you buy in the App Store or Google Play, in Canada and the United States. Plus costs US$4.99 a month or US$39.99 a year, and AI Pro costs US$7.99 a month or US$59.99 a year, both with a 7-day free trial. In Canada, the store sets the price in Canadian dollars. The store shows the price before you buy.
- Apple or Google takes the payment, under their own terms. Your subscription renews by itself until you cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings. When you cancel, you keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for.
- Your plan goes with your Mom's Cookbook account, on every phone or tablet where you sign in to it. You change or cancel it in the store where you bought it. On your Account screen, "Your plan" says where it's paid, and on a phone that uses that store, "Manage my subscription" opens the store's page for it.
- If your plan doesn't show, tap "Restore purchases" on "Choose a plan" or under "Your plan". It finds the plans bought with the Apple or Google account your phone uses, and moves them to the Mom's Cookbook account you're signed in to, even from another Mom's Cookbook account, which then loses them.
- Refunds go through Apple or Google, under their rules. If they send you to us, write to us.
- Deleting the app doesn't cancel your subscription. Deleting your account doesn't cancel an App Store subscription either: cancel it in the App Store first.
- Deleting your account tries to stop your Google Play subscription, but it may not. Cancel it in Google Play first.
- If we raise a price, we'll tell you before it applies, and Apple or Google will ask you as their rules require.
- Nothing here takes away a right to cancel or to a refund that the law gives you.
7. Using Mom's Cookbook fairly
Please don't:
- break the law, or help someone else break it
- add someone else's private information or photos without their permission, including a photo of someone else for your kitchen helper
- add or share anything hateful, harassing, violent or sexual
- use sharing to send spam or to bother people
- try to get into accounts or data that aren't yours, or to test, overload or break the app or our servers
- copy, scrape or resell the app or what's in it, by hand or with automated tools
- use Maman or the import reader to make harmful content, or for things that have nothing to do with food
- break OpenAI's usage policies when you use Maman or the import reader
- use Maman or the import reader from a country or territory that isn't on OpenAI's list of supported countries and territories
We may remove content or limit an account that breaks these rules.
8. Our part
We work to keep Mom's Cookbook running and your recipes safe. We can't promise it will always be available or free of mistakes.
We may change, add or remove features. If a change takes away something important from a paid plan, we'll tell you first.
9. Closing your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app, from your Account screen, or by writing to us from the email address you sign in with. It deletes your recipes, photos, cookbooks, plans and lists, and it can't be undone. The privacy policy lists the few things that stay.
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or when the law requires it. When we can, we'll tell you why first and give you time to get a copy of your recipes.
If we ever stop offering Mom's Cookbook, we'll tell you at least 30 days ahead and help you get a copy of your recipes.
10. Limits of our liability
As far as the law allows, Mom's Cookbook is provided as it is. We aren't responsible for:
- losses we couldn't have expected, or that don't come directly from our mistake
- what you cook and how it turns out, including when you follow a recipe or an answer from Maman without checking it
- recipes, photos or notes other people share with you
- problems caused by Apple, Google, your phone or your internet connection
If we are responsible for a loss, the most we owe you is what you paid for Mom's Cookbook in the 12 months before your claim.
Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit, or takes away your rights as a consumer.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For important changes, we'll tell you in the app at least 30 days before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can delete your account and cancel your subscription before then. If you keep using Mom's Cookbook after that, the new terms apply.
12. Which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of Québec and the laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts in Québec. If you're a consumer, you keep the protection of the law where you live, and you can go to your local courts where that law allows it.
